iOS 4.3 jailbreak on Windows now possible with Sn0wbreeze 2.3
We don't have any personal experience with Sn0wbreeze here at Download Squad, but the process seems easy enough. Like the PwnageTool Mac jailbreak of iOS 4.3, this is a tethered jailbreak -- and remember, as there isn't a working unlock for iOS 4.3 yet, this jailbreak won't unlock your iPhone.
If you manage to successfully jailbreak your phone, let us know in the comments.

WordPress 3.2 to remove support for old tech and introduce distraction-free writing
WordPress 3.2 will also see the introduction of a distraction-free writing mode, like those found in Byword or Ommwriter, and lead developer Mark Jaquith wants to ensure that the overall experience is "more lightweight and calming." He's also working with the WordPress crew to squeeze additional performance gains wherever possible.
The timeline for WordPress 3.2 is due to be released this week.

Here are some of the goodies version 0.7 brings to the party:
- Text nodes: Writing something like a[href=/]{Click here} now works, and puts "Click here" within the link.
- New actions added: Increment/decrement number under cursor, evaluate math expressions, and more.
- Wrap with Abbreviation was upgraded.
Zen Coding has official implementations for a ton of editors, including TextMate, Apatana, Coda, E2, Komodo, Notepad++, PSPad, and more. It also has unofficial builds for Vim, UltraEdit, Visual Studio and more.

Jetbus is a retro-tastic physics game, with a bus
Jetbus is not that game, but it's obviously inspired by it. You're driving a yellow school bus which has jets. I guess the jet engine takes quite a bit of space inside the bus, because you can only pick up one person at a time.
There are several doors on the screen, each with its own number. As you pick up a person, the status bar at the bottom of the screen shows you which number door you have to take them to.
You must fly your bus carefully, because if it gets bumped around too much, you lose. You earn money on each level, and can visit the garage to buy better jets and damping, power-ups, or even a whole new vehicle.
So while this game isn't made as well as the original that inspired it, it does provide a few minutes of fun. And now, which one of you guys remembers the original and feels like pointing to it in the comments?

Internet Explorer 9 downloaded 2.3 million times in first day; Firefox 3 managed 8 million!

Of course it isn't an entirely fair comparison. The Internet is a different place today than it was back in 2008. For a start, Google Chrome burst onto the scene and has diluted IE's market share ever since. Then there's the fact that browsers are generally a lot better in 2011 than 2008. When Firefox 3 came out, the only other option was Internet Explorer 7! In contrast, Firefox 3.6, Internet Explorer 8 and Chrome are all good browsers -- in short, there's no compelling reason to upgrade to IE9.
More importantly, let's not forget that the Internet has grown massively in the last three years, gathering hundreds of millions of new users -- and all of those users need Web browsers! It's rather surprising, given the huge target audience, to see Internet Explorer 9 quite so far behind Firefox 3, and even Firefox 3.5. It's not like Microsoft hasn't spent an awful lot on marketing its new browser, and IE9 has received plenty of attention from the tech world, too.
Ultimately, I think, it comes down to the grass roots nature of the open source movement, and the zealous loyalty of Firefox users. Six years ago, millions of people celebrated the release of Firefox 1.0 with launch parties -- including me! -- but no matter how hard Microsoft encourages us to embrace the beauty of the web, I don't think any release of Internet Explorer will ever inspire people to gather in a bar and drink to the long and healthy life of the World Wide Web.

Google mandates longer Apps passwords

How much difference can two measly characters make? Plenty. A quick test with a few different combinations over at How Secure is My Password bumped the time-to-crack from 8 seconds (6 characters) to more than a day. That's a substantial difference, and it's nice to see Google enforcing the 8-character minimums.
If you can handle something longer, go for it. You're only going to make things harder for the bad guys, after all. A bump to 10 characters pushes your time-to-crack to about 10 years.

Amazon Appstore for Android hands-on review: Android Market is in trouble

First and foremost, Amazon is promising to give away one paid app for free every day. Today it's Angry Birds Rio, and it only retails for 99 cents, but that doesn't really matter: people love free stuff. People will download stuff simply because it's free, even if they don't want it! The best bit (or worst bit) is that developers still get 20% of the usual retail price, which will be paid out of Amazon's pockets.
The next defining feature is Amazon Appstore exclusives. Angry Birds Rio, CoD:MW:Force Recon and other apps will be available only from Amazon. As we know from the console wars, exclusive titles aren't always a good thing, but who cares? Amazon simply wants unique selling points, and exclusive titles are definitely that.
It's not all good, though. We ran in to some rather serious bugs while playing around with the Amazon Appstore for Android app, and then there's the matter of having to enable installation from Unknown Sources before it will even install...
